We have been learning about Matariki, the different stars and what they represent. We made a book to show the different stars and their meanings. We created our own symbol for each star. Here is my book.
We have been learning about fractions and how to find fractions of a set. Here is a slide to show my learning
This week we have been doing some writing for Matariki. Here is a piece of writing about stars.
We went for a school trip to Ngawha (old Ohaeawai) at the beginning of the term. We have been learning about the Battle of Ohaeawai, between the British and Maori that happened at Ngawha in 1845. Now there is a church on the site called St Michaels Church. The pa and the pekerangi (fence) used in the battle was the first use of trench warfare. Here are some things we created to show our learning.
We have been learning about the correct placement of speech marks in our writing. We had to choose from a choice board and complete tasks. Some tasks used speech bubbles and some used speech marks. We know that speech marks are used around the words we put inside a speech bubble.
